Cebu's A-Z Summer Recommendations

Here's a typical Cebuano's A-Z of summer care of Sunstar Cebu

A– Art Classes

Learn to express yourself more in various ways. Enrol yourself in a class this summer where they can teach you how to be a better artist.

B– Beach

Imagine sand castles and banana boat rides! Grab your friends and go out to the beach on a boring afternoon.

C– Camping

Aren’t you bored living indoors? Why don’t you try setting up a tent outside your house to begin with? And if you’re old enough to go camping, then be excited to go out for a great experience with Mother Nature.

D– Dancing

Well. At least they say it’s fun.

E– Exercise

You don’t have to get into baggy sweatshirts and look dorky. Just go out for three days a week with your group of friends and play sports.

F– Frisbee

Feeling the wind against your face while catching a Frisbee flying in high velocity is exhilarating! Go out with your family in a park on a Sunday and throw the dish around.

G– Guitar

If you have one at home, it’s not too late to learn. Isn’t Jason Castro on American Idol enough inspiration already?

H– Home Cooking

It’s about time you learn some cool cooking techniques from mom. With some cooking sessions, you could invite friends over at your place to try your own creations!

I– Internet

Might as well play free flash games or watch online videos now that we have the time. At least we’re on the internet not for researching assignments and stuff.

J– Juggling

It’s a cool trick you’d want to learn. Great for parties. Remember to use only balls and keep those chainsaws away from little sister’s reach.

K– Kite-flying

Take control of the airwaves kids! Just a little reminder: Fly your kite only in open fields where there are no electrical posts or wires near the area.

L– Lemonade

Refer to “M”.

M– Making money

Refer to “L”.

N– Novels

Grab a book and read, kids! Let your imagination work and set aside time for a good book. I suggest you get the whole Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S Lewis. Now that’s a classic right there.

O– Oral Check up

At least we get to visit the dentist and our teeth get pampered without us worrying about school occupying our schedules.

P– Parents

Do something special this summer with your parents. I’m sure they don’t mind what or where you go. It’s your company they find desirable, more than what you actually can give.

Q– Quit

Maybe this summer would be a perfect time to learn how you can quit on your nasty habits and start to learn new ones.

R– Room Cleaning

(I have a feeling your parents would find this one more appealing). Take out the junk in your room and replace it with clean, new and radiant designs.

S– Summer job

Refer to “M” and “L”.

T– Teach

It is better to give than to receive, right? So if you have a talent and you want to share it, why not teach others?

U– Underwater Hockey

Is there such a thing? Yes there is. Call the Cebu City Sports Complex if you’re interested.

V– Vacation

Get out of the city and country and discover new places! Get souvenirs and photos from that place AND, don’t forget your pasalubong for your loved ones left behind.

W– Wii

Oh c’mon! Don’t tell me you never heard of the Nintendo Wii these days? Strap on the wireless controller and have a blast playing the latest games.

X– Xylophone Lessons

Weird, I know. But if you do go out of your way to try it, I bet you’ll be the only one in class who can bust a mean xylophone solo; thus the coolness factor.

Y– Yoyo

Maybe you can’t spin webs like Spiderman. But you sure can spin yoyos to have fun. With moves like ‘Walk the Dog’ or ‘Rock the Baby’, there are lots of tricks out there to be learned. Those old ‘Coke’ ones for me are the best. Your older brother might know what I’m talking about.

Z– Zoo

There may not be a lot here in the city. But ask help from your parents and they can find all sorts of places with all sorts of animals.
