Banilad Talamban Flyover FINALLY Opened Yesterday

Yes the long awaited 89 million peso Banilad Talamban flyover was inaugurated and opened yesterday by none other than President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. The traffic was horrendous but we all got through it and now we can all pass through that gloriously expensive and controversial flyover.

Bloggers Unite For Mindandao?

Who would have thought bloggers would be so concerned about Mindanao's image that bloggers would organize a summit to help improve the Mindanao image?

Unfortunately I didn't catch on to the first one, but apprerently this is the second Mindanao Bloggers Summit to be held on Oct. 25-26. Spearheaded by the Soccsksargen Convenors Collective based in Central Mindanao , it is themed "Mindanawon, Paminawon Intawon (literally, listen to Mindanaoans): Blogging the Mindanao Consciousness."

"We want to encourage the bloggers to... [balance] the spate of negative news about Mindanao and help erase the outsider’s perception about the island," Avel O. Manansala, summit lead convenor, said in a statement.

I understand the need to revitalize the image of "Mindanao" given how the news has plastered how much warfare has been going on there. I have been told this is not true. More than anything else bloggers will have a challenge reaching out to those who are already in control of mainstream media.

The internet is a good avenue though to fight the good fight and to once and for all get the truth out that it is not as sensational as they make it sound on prime time news

Katrina Halili: "I'm not a sexy star, I'm an actress" Watch out for her in Gagambino

Gagambino starring Dennis Trillo is coming soon on GMA. Notwithstanding how yummy he is and deliciously single, to top it off - he will be joined by equally delicious Katrina Halili who has outright rebuffed comments on her being just a "sexy star." Apparently she wants to be recognized as an "actress"

That's very difficult to do when she looks the way she looks, I mean look at her! Anyway, she's going to play "Lucy" in Gagambino, Dennis Trillo's childhood friend who also has super powers, that of a praying mantis I've read.

This Gagambino story although from Carlo J. Caparas, sounds very much like Spiderman but I guess we'll just have to see what are the similarities on tv.

Nevertheless I will watch it considering Katrina Halili is one of the hottest looking "sexy stars" or rather "actresses" on primetime television.

I mean look at her. It's so just a lot easier to see her as a sexy star because she is pretty darned sexy. She should just close her mouth and say thank you for it. Many would die to have her body.

I know it must insult her a bit because she is trying to be an actress but her body, face and sex appeal are all gifts that go with the package. She wouldn't be this famous if not for them.

For all you adoring Katrina Halili fans, here are some more sexy pictures for you to enjoy:

Joey De Leon And Willie Revillame - Can You Believe Them?

Can you believe the recent publicity stunt of Willie Revillame and Joey de Leon in that Supreme Extreme Award night in the Fort?

Well I don't. That was just a whole lot of B.S. that's for sure. Great show guys great show. They really are great actors willing to put on a show.

When Willie tried to dismiss their onscreen, nationwide cat-fight on everyday noon programming (Wowowee vs. Eat Bulaga) as "lambingan" now that's just pure nonsense. Now plastered all over the news are headlines, "Joey and Willie Kiss and Make Up"

I bet both of their shows are doing just a little worse these days that stirring up some excitement became necessary for them to have people tuning in again. There's nothing like Filipino show business

The Angelina Jolie Doll Was Made By A Filipino!

Isn't just the proudest thing you've ever heard? A doll that has the face of Angelina Jolie, admired the world over was made by a Filipino artist. Now that is just brilliant and something to be proud of. I read about the doll first on Reuters and thought, "Wow that's nice."

But as I continued to look it up, the name Noel Cruz jumped up and then I began reading about him being Filipino. I think that's awesome.

The doll doesn't have Angelina's tattoos but you can have it added for a fee if you're interested in buying, the doll also has a couple of wigs. It was sold on eBay for more than three thousand dollars and rumor has it that another one sold for two thousand pounds. Not bad at all.

Noel Cruz is famous though for these kinds of dolls. He has done dolls of Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom, Tobey Maguire, Daniel Craig, Christopher Reeve, Keira Knightley, Kirsten Dunst, Nicole Kidman, Celine Dion, Annie Lennox, Julie Andrews, Vivien Leigh and many more.

He's just brilliant I tell you!

Imagine how small those dolls are (2½ inch by 2 inch) and to be able to get to that much detail and precision is just not something you learn. That has got to be a talent you're born with.

Noel Cruz's work can be found here. Filipinos all over the world can be so proud. Some of his other work includes:

Kirsten Dunst - this is a very nice replica as well, just look at her facial features

There are guy dolls too. Check out Daniel Craig

Would You Buy A Filipino Brand Laptop?

Yes that is the question. Would you buy a laptop if it had a Filipino brand on it? Hmmm...

First thought that would come into my mind... is it legal? Another would be, is it a clone? I must sound really discriminatory versus my own kind. I'm sorry even I have a sordid view of how some Filipino products come out. No offense - I love dried mangoes and other local delicacies but a Filipino brand laptop?

I've seen though the Filipino branded phone - myPhone by SGI. It actually looks like it shows promise. They are set to launch 10 more models of the phone with an AM radio feature, as well as four or five dual SIM phones - units ranging from P2,000 to P8,000. They're also planning to introduce a "Touch Series" similar to the iPhone with multimedia and dual SIM features as well, including GPS pocket PC phone units. Apparently the same company that makes these phones will start making the laptops, calling it myBook. “myBook” is intended to be similar to the Asus mini laptops but with more power.

Well according to Inquirer, Asustek Computer Inc. recently announced improvements in its Eee PC family. The new products, called “Eee PC” 901/1000, run on Wi-Fi 802.11n, an enhanced Internet service. This means a high-definition 30-minute film can be downloaded within a minute, the company said. The new “Eee PC” family members, which are priced between $560 and $660, have up to 2GB of memory and 40GB of storage.

Maybe there is some hope after all. Although I'm not quite sure I'll trade in my IBM Think Pad for that just yet. It's a good thing that at the very least the option is presentable and competitive with what's out there.
